Who we are.

Wynd is an early-stage startup that is working to democratize the future of AI: First, by providing universal access to public web data, and second, by creating a system where ordinary people can participate in the process - and share in the benefits.

Having recently secured growth-enabling funding, we are growing FAST and we need help finding curious and talented people in web3, tech, big data, and all manner of unexpected places who resonate with our mission and want to put their effort where their heart is.

We are currently focused on building the data layer of AI with Grass, an application that runs in a user's background and sells unused internet to artificial intelligence labs. By running a node with Grass, users become an integral part of AI's training process, and they are compensated accordingly. The growth of AI is a development of historic significance, and our goal is to distribute the benefits of its growth to everyone - putting the future of the web back in the hands of the people.

At Wynd, we believe in the power of decentralized solutions in both our products and the way we work. As such we are a remote-first company that is globally distributed to serve our global audience.

We are looking for a lawyer to join our team. You will lead the legal strategy for a fast-growing network.

What you’ll do.

  • Lead corporate governance matters for a wide variety of entities and operations
  • Be the primary point of contact on the team for directors, officers and executives’ legal enquiries
  • Manage requests related to subsidiary matters received by the team from various departments within the company.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including business, regulatory, compliance, risk, finance, tax and others.
  • Tackle complex legal issues across multiple domains including regulatory compliance (focusing on data sales, privacy, storage, consumer payouts, NFTs, token/crypto regulations, and SEC guidelines), intellectual property management, contract negotiation, employment law, foundation versus labs activities, investor financing, and foreign market entry.
  • Develop strategies to manage risks and enhance our business acumen while navigating the fast-evolving landscapes of AI, crypto, and big data.
  • Lead project management for legal operations, ensuring effective coordination among internal teams and external legal service providers.

What you’ll need.

Soft Skills

  • Comfortable with risk-adjusted thinking and able to discern when flexibility in interpretation is warranted.
  • Ability to make sound legal judgments, applying analytical rigor, prudent risk assessment, and a mix of creativity and pragmatism as necessary.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple assignments simultaneously, tolerate change and ambiguity, and take ownership of projects and tasks while operating in an uncharted regulatory environment.
  • Willingness to roll up sleeves (no job too big, no job too small).
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a remote and dynamic environment.
  • A solid work ethic and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Hard Skills

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and a current license to practice law.
  • Approximately 6 or more years of relevant corporate legal experience at a leading law firm, or comparable in house practice.
  • Demonstrated expertise in handling complex legal and regulatory matters relevant to a fast-paced, tech-driven environment.
  • Background in drafting and negotiating a wide range of brokerage or other trading-related agreements, and are comfortable interacting with highly-sophisticated institutional clients and counterparties.
  • Experience with exchanges, market making, financial derivatives, cryptocurrency, and open-source software.

What will stand out?

  • Prior in-house experience at a web3 tech startup, with a robust understanding of AI and web3 technologies.
  • Previous involvement or a strong interest in web3/crypto technologies.

Why join us?

  • Competitive salary
  • Early-stage equity
  • Flexible work environment
  • Unlimited PTO
  • An inclusive culture that values speed, autonomy, feedback, and collaboration
