Role Overview: As the FilOz Product Lead, you will spearhead efforts to identify, define, and execute high-impact improvements to the Filecoin core protocol. You’ll work closely with engineers, researchers, and other network teams to shape product development that enhances Filecoin’s product-market fit (PMF) and overall ecosystem growth and capabilities. Your work will drive collaboration with teams across Filecoin, identify strategic product opportunities, and lead engineering, research, & protocol design teams working on vital components of the Filecoin network.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with FilOz engineers, researchers, protocol designers, and other network participants to define protocol improvements and high-value features.
• Write Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) for new Filecoin features and engage with network stakeholders to define key tradeoffs and requirements in protocol designs.
  • Ex: Work with network teams such as Storacha, Akave, and Basin to map L2 integrations with Filecoin L1 storage providers (SPs), ensuring smooth cross-chain storage deals.
• Lead cross-functional projects across Filecoin public good dev teams such as Curio, FIDL, FIL-B, Ansa Research, and more to design and deliver innovative solutions that grow Filecoin’s mission.
• Engage ecosystem partners to identify new opportunities for the broader Filecoin ecosystem, turning these ideas into actionable initiatives.
• Mentor and guide product teams, ensuring clarity on goals and strong communication throughout the product lifecycle.

Ideal Candidate Background:

• Prior experience within scrappy, fast-moving tech startups owning ambitious projects from design to launch.
• Technical background (CS degree or relevant engineering experience) with experience working closely with engineers, researchers, protocol designers, and highly complex software systems.
• Experience leading teams or organizations in Web3, open-source, or early-stage tech environments.

Nice to Haves:

• Experience in the storage industry, particularly in storage software.
• In-depth knowledge of the Filecoin ecosystem and key ecosystem players.
• Background in ecosystem development, impact-oriented thinking, and rethinking established norms.
