BD at Coinbase is focused on maximizing the value that Coinbase generates through strategic product partnerships. You will serve in a newly created role overseeing business development efforts for Retail Advanced Trading and the International Exchange. In this role you will act as business lead to your product counterpart.

These products cater to professional traders through a suite of advanced trading features and drive substantial trading volume for Coinbase internationally. Since launch, we’ve seen tremendous growth in these areas. You’ll be responsible for amplifying this growth by owning the development of our go-to-market strategy and driving product partnerships with traders, influencers, and channels. In some cases you’ll work closely with product management to define the requirements for a successful partnership and identify partners based on those traits. In other cases you’ll be out on your own - in close contact with senior leadership - to look around corners nobody else knows about and proactively share new ways for Coinbase to be top of mind for the professional trading segment. Partnerships will span product enablement (e.g., data, charting, APIs), education and media (e.g., crypto publications), distribution (e.g., platforms), and other types as you see fit. We’re looking for a dynamic, creative, and highly ambitious leader who wants to own a customer segment, embrace different business cultures, sign groundbreaking deals that pave the way for Coinbase to grow via new paradigms, and be viewed as an indispensable business leader.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

  • Be the business go-to leading cross-functional partnership initiatives, working with Sales, Product, Finance, Comms, Compliance, Legal, Policy, and Marketing
  • Own development and execution of the GTM strategy and tactics that will support Coinbase as the #1 place to go for advanced and professional traders
  • GTM may include distribution and product partnerships, closely-coordinated marketing initiatives, and measurable influencer programs
  • Penetrate crypto communities internationally and develop engagement strategies in concert with critical and relevant local partners
  • Develop and implement a strategic global partnership program to boost brand awareness, supercharge user acquisition, and increase volumes of International Exchange / Coinbase Advanced
  • Own all elements of the partnership life cycle: scoping of opportunities, identifying potential partners, framing of value, negotiating agreements, and implementation and optimization
  • Build a measurement framework to quantify the impact of the various GTM initiatives, working closely with Data Science & Engineering
  • Maintain and manage productive relationships with partners, resolving business, policy and technical issues.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

  • 10+ years of experience across strategic deal-oriented roles with global exposure. Examples include: business development, corporate development, new market expansion, go-to-market strategy and partnerships
  • Experience in crypto with expertise in trading and relationships in sophisticated trading communities, with a longstanding passion for the space
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication, relationship management, and organizational skills, including navigating complex organizational dynamics to deliver cross-team results
  • Deep analytical, prioritization, and problem solving skills and proven experience using data to identify actionable insights resulting in better product outcomes
  • Proven ability to mentor and motivate high-performing global teams
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and experience succeeding in fast-paced environments (e.g. you can run through walls)
  • Track record managing diverse international ecosystem growth while balancing customer needs
  • International travel will be required

  • International experience
  • Experience taking a business from 0 to 1, and then scaling to growth
  • Experience growing a crypto ecosystem, with a focus on sophisticated traders (private + institutional)
  • Deep existing network in crypto communities
